Daniel R. Apple
Dan is a native of Richmond, VA and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. He has over 40 years of business management experience. The majority of his career has been spent as a door dealer (1978–2011). During that time, his company, Apple Door Systems, grew to the largest garage door dealer in Virginia, growing to eight stores throughout Virginia. After selling all the stores to long term, trusted employees, Dan and Sandy formed The Apple Group to serve as consultants to the garage door industry. Dan also served as a co-founder and the first president of The Institute for Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA). During his tenure, IDEA created educational offerings at the national level that provided garage door dealers with the most comprehensive training ever produced in the industry. Through his leadership, the first ever national accreditation designation for garage door dealers was launched. For the first time, dealers could earn professional credentials at the national level, elevating their professional status in the eyes of the public. Dan is also proud to have served as the president of The Rotary Club of South Richmond from 2006–07 and was a Rotarian for 20 years.
